About WEDA - Our Committees
WEDA members serve on committees, sections and task force groups that
guide WEDA and set our policy goals. If you're looking to get more
involved with WEDA and to be a part of effective change, consider
volunteering on a committee.
Public Policy Advocacy & Legislative Committee - The goal for this committee is to lead WEDA in effective advocacy for a strong statewide economy. This work is done through 1) maintaining an active lobbying presence during state legislative sessions, 2) moving the state towards a philosophy where economic development is a consistent and ongoing effort, 3) development of coalitions that draw urban/rural and east/west constituencies together around key economic issues facing Washington State, 4) developing and disseminating White Papers on key policy topics, 5) developing and disseminating WEDA Legislative Priorities, 6) producing and anual report onthe status of economic development in Washington State and its future direction, 7) writing legislation that advances that advances WEDA's top legislative priorities, and establishing long-term economic development goals and direction for the state's economic development community.

Program Committee - This committee's focus is on professional development. Key to this committee is providing cutting edge seminars and courses that help economic development practitioners succeed in their communities.

Member Services Committee - This newly formed committee will focus upon offering pertinent services to economic development
practitioners from all parts of Washington State.

Membership Committee - Another newly formed committee. This committee, chaired by Bruce Kendall President of the EDB for Tacoma Pierce County , purpose is to actively encourage those who are involved in economic development in the state to participate as members of the organization.
