The Washington Economic Development Association
Economic development is
fundamentally about jobs. But jobs don't just happen.
In fact,
retaining existing jobs and recruiting new jobs in Washington State
requires the work of many. First and foremost, businesses have to be
willing to invest here and see a return on that investment. Banks
must be ready to lend. Ports, cities, counties, and the state must
be willing to invest in new infrastructure. Utilities must be ready
to build new facilities. Economic development organizations across
the state must work hard to ensure that local businesses have access
to the resources they need to succeed -- to create jobs.
Creating an environment that encourages
high quality job creation in Washington State requires a strong
presence in state legislative and regulatory arenas. It requires an
association that has economic development as its core mission -- its
very reason for existence. WEDA is that organization.
